The Head's Welcome
Welcome to Clapham and Patching Church of England Primary School.
Nestled in the beautiful South Downs National Park, Clapham and Patching CofE Primary School has been an important part of the community for over 150 years. We are a small, caring and inclusive village school with a strong Christian foundation. We have high expectations for every child, we are committed to helping our children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually.
We love to take our learning outdoors. We can often be found in Clapham Woods, working with the South Downs National Park rangers in our own designated area of this historic woodland.
As part of the South Downs Education Trust, we work closely with our friends at Worthing High School. This gives our children access to specialist teachers and resources. It also enables us to use Worthing High School's fantastic facilities and helps our children to be prepared, confident and ready for the next stage of their education.

Look who came to see us today!

Today, on the common ground in our lovely little village, the whole school took part in 'Tree Dressing Day'. Tree dressing is based on many old customs from all over the world. It was initiated by Common Ground in 1990 and has grown to become much more than an expression of a love for trees. It was a chance for our school community to gather and celebrate the leafy friends we all have in common. It was also a chance for us to reflect on the social and cultural history of our local area, and the role trees have played in shaping it's story. We whittled wood, wrote messages, made decorations for the trees and ourselves, drank hot chocolate, and ate home made cake. We finished by singing 'The Holly and the Ivy' together. (we did ask permission first! )
